Darick Mead could not wait for his new born son to arrive into the world. He needed a wingman for his proposal and his son Ryder was the only little man that was right for the job.
It had been less than forty-eight hours since Susan had Ryder. While family and friends were buzzing over the excitement and joy of Ryder’s life, Darick had big proposal plans for Susan. Reported by ABC News, Mead didn’t share his proposal news with any of their family or friends but he had it planned out perfectly. His girlfriend Susan Medina was in labor with Ryder for over 17 hours. She pushed for two-and-a-half hours, Mead told ABC News. “Three epidurals later and… Ryder was born via emergency C-section.”
Before the big moment, Mead convinced Medina that the nurses wanted to check on their son outside of their hospital room. During that moment, he slipped the onesie that read, “Mommy, will you marry my daddy?” onto Ryder. He brought their son wrapped in a thin baby blanket and told Medina that the nurses wanted her to practice changing Ryder’s diaper.

As she unwrapped Ryder to practice her diaper changing skills, her eyes fell upon the message on their son’s proposal onesie. Mead dropped down to one knee and took her hand into his and said, “You know you’ve always been my best friend. You know I’ve loved you since day one. I couldn’t be more happy with you and my son right now. Leah Medina, will you marry me?”

Both stunned and overwhelmed with emotions, the soon-to-be bride covered her tears with a napkin and blurted out, “Why did you do that to me right now?” Mead broke into a smile. They shared a teary kiss and hug with their son in between his happy parents.
“I don’t even remember what exactly I was feeling. I just know that I started crying out of nowhere,” Medina shared with ABC News. “I did not expect that to happen. I was even waiting for him to say, ‘Oh just kidding.’ I’m pretty sure I asked him ‘Are you sure?'”
The happy couple met two years ago on the online dating platform MeetMe.com. They have been in love since date one. Mead and Medina are excited to begin their next chapter in life together as a family. “I’ve got everything that I could ever ask for right now,” said the future groom.
