Couple adopts emaciated orphan. He looks completely unrecognizable just 1 year later

Priscilla Morse was perusing through Facebook one day when a picture of an emaciated orphan in a Bulgarian orphanage. After seeing how much help he needed, she decided she needed to do whatever she can to help him and bring him into her family.

Through Reece’s Rainbow, an organization that helps to fund adoptions for kids with special needs, she welcomed the young boy, named Ryan, into their home in Tennessee. She quickly fought to provide him with a feeding tube and got proper diagnoses of the various issues he was suffering from. They quickly found that he has cerebral palsy, microcephaly, dwarfism, scoliosis, clubbed feet and re-feeding syndrome. He also had hairy arms and legs as his body was trying a last-ditch effort to maintain warmth.

It’s now been one year since they brought the frail boy into their home. Through tbe Morse family’s fight to get a feeding tube and their dedication into providing him with the various surgeries and medical attention he needs, the difference in Ryan’s looks staggering!

“He was dying [before]. Now, he is moving into 24m/2T clothing and weighs 23 lbs. His hair is thick and shiny; his skin is no longer pale, but a lovely olive shade that is representative of his Roma heritage,” Morse notes about his dramatically different looks.

“His lips are full and pink and he just looks like a thriving, healthy little boy,” Morse continues.

While the fight to get Ryan to his current health has not been easy, and there are still challenges ahead, including a surgery to straighten his spine, the Morse family hopes that Ryan’s life-changing story encourages those looking at adoption to not overlook those with special needs. They also have an adopted daughter from Russia with down syndrome and a congenital heart defect, as well as two other sons named Dylan and Jack.

Their warmth and open-hearted nature prove to us just how amazing people can truly be. They have truly changed the lives of their children and the family is filled with angels helping those who need it most! Ryan looks like a completely different person than he was a year ago, and the Morse family looks beyond happier than ever to have him in their family!
